The coin was minted in Sante Fe de Bogota in 1635 and was a part of a cargo en route to Spain when it was lost in the river. 300 years later in November 1936 workmen who were dredging the river, which is the Magdalena River in present day Republic of Columbia, found a portion of the lost treasure.
